COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification provides a trade outcome in wall and ceiling lining for residential and commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as the specialist field of work wall and ceiling liner. Wall and ceiling liners apply and fix linings for non-structural walls and ceilings.

Entry Requirements

  • There are no mandated Entry Requirements specified in the Training Package for this qualification.
  • Campbell Institute will provide the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction program to students who wish to excel in the field of building and construction, equipping them with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills essential for successful careers in the industry.
  • However, students must:
  • Be 18 years of age or over.
  • Have completed, at minimum, a year 12 qualification or equivalent.
  • Meet the English requirements of a valid IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs. The course entry interview will also assess whether students can use digital technologies.

Delivery will be Blended Learning, comprised of a combination of face-to-face and online learning.

Structured Training and Assessment

Structured learning aims to actively facilitate trainer-led formal learning and assessment opportunities for students to attain, practice and demonstrate the knowledge and skills related to the qualification, and is comprised of:

Face-to-Face Classes

Classes are scheduled and delivered in both the classroom and in a workshop. These classes are undertaken in a suitable location, attendance is face-to-face, conducted in a formal format, providing structured learning, practice and assessment under trainer direction and supervision.

All practical classes take place in a dedicated workshop/Work Site, where Work Health Safety requirements are always followed under the Trainer’s supervision.

Online Learning

Learners attend synchronous learning in an online classroom accessed by Zoom (or equivalent). Online classes are conducted under trainer supervision and facilitation.

Student will require access to a computer and internet to complete training and assessment requirements of this course.

Attendance

All enrolled students are required to attend classes for 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.

Study Pathways

The further study pathways available to learners who undertake this qualification include students who receive the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction qualification and want to pursue further study opportunities by enrolling in higher-level courses with a university in a related undergraduate degree level program or another advanced qualification

Duration

Course Duration: The program duration of this qualification is 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment delivered over 4 terms. Four (4) terms of ten (10) weeks and twelve (12) weeks of holidays. The duration and amount of learning and assessment for each unit have been determined based on unit content and industry consultation. The qualification is delivered in a blended learning format, combining both face-to-face and online class modalities.

Note: Students are required source PPE from reputable suppliers and ensure correct fit and suitability for training activities, estimated costs vary depending on quality, brand, and supplier. Trainers and assessors will visually check PPE for suitability and compliance with Australian Standards during practical sessions. 

If students are unsure about their PPE, they should seek guidance from the trainer/assessor immediately to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualification outcome

As a registered training organisation (RTO), Campbell Institute operates within the Vocational Education and Training Quality Framework (VETQF) and the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) delivering nationally recognised qualifications and Units of Competency.

Students who have met the course completion criteria by achieving competency in all the units of the course as stipulated in the Training Package will receive a Certification for the qualification CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining. Students who do not successfully complete the qualification will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units that have been deemed competent.

Skills recognition

Credit Transfer

Campbell Institute as a Registered Training Organisation recognises the Australian Qualifications Framework qualifications and Statement of Attainments issued by any other Australian Registered Training Organisation.

Students are encouraged to submit any requests for credit from previous studies at the time of enrolment, to ensure they are not enrolling in units they may not need to undertake. To apply for exemption/credit transfer from units completed at another training organisation, you will need to complete a Credit Transfer Application Form available from any campus.

Your completed Credit Transfer Application Form together with attached documentary evidence (certified copy of Qualification/Statement of Attainment) to support your request for exemption/credit transfer should be submitted directly to the campus either in person or by email at academics@campbellinstitute.edu.au. There are no fees attached to Credit Transfers. Requests without documentary evidence will not be processed and will be returned to students. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is the acknowledgement of a person’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience, which may be used to grant status or credit in a subject regardless of how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from:

  • Previous study including courses at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or college, through adult education classes or training programs at work.
  • Work experience (including both work that is paid and unpaid); and/or
  • Life experience (for example leisure pursuits or voluntary work).

RPL is a form of assessment. It is used to determine whether a person has acquired, through formal or informal learning, the skills and experience consistent with the stated competency standards that comprise a qualification. RPL is not time referenced, so there are no parameters on how or when the skills are acquired. However, the skills that have been acquired through life experience etc., must be current and must match the elements and performance criteria contained in the individual unit.
